If you aren’t sure about a programming language but you think you might want to learn it, it’s important to know that you’ll need to keep up with the changes that occur in it. Programming languages aren’t completely set in stone, and some of them are still changing and evolving to some degree. They aren’t all doing this, as a few of them have been basically static for some time. There are others, though, that change and adapt as people want to learn to do more with them. You should start learning any programming languages that you’re interested in as soon as possible, so that you can get the basics down. Once you have that handled, you’ll be better able to stay caught up with subtleties and changes.
If you’re working within the confines of a particular programming language because that’s the only one you know, you might also want to consider whether it would be benefitical for you to learn others. Some languages are more constrictive than others, and you may not be able to get what you need from a particular language. Changing to something else to do your programming might allow you a lot more options, which is something you should seriously consider. That way you won’t have as many problems creating what you want.
Of course, it’s not realistic for a person to know every bit of every programming language available to him or her. That’s not something that most people strive for. If you’re considering learning a programming language – or even more than one – you’ll want to do some research and find the right option(s) for you. That way you’ll learn what’s valuable and useful for you and your future work, instead of learning programming languages that you actually won’t use. You don’t want to waste time with those kinds of things.
